Annual Wellness Exam

Seeing your pet at least once a year allows us to establish a relationship and familiarity with you, your pet and your pet’s individual needs. Which is why our Vets recommend regular wellness exams for the same reason your physician and dentist recommend them. If you can detect a problem early on, it’s more likely to be treated and resolved more successfully and less expensive. Puppies and kittens usually require 3-4 exams every 3-4 weeks in conjunction with their vaccine series, similar to pediatric visits. During these important exams we monitor your puppy or kitten as they grow, making sure they are healthy and all of your questions are answered every step of the way. Your pets do not have to be due for vaccines or sick to have an exam, as preventative medicine is of huge importance.

In House Laboratory

In addition to the physical examination, our Veterinarians use blood tests and other laboratory work to better assess your pets health. These blood tests give us a baseline of what is normal for your pet. Blood tests are very valuable in the early detection of diseases in pets. Subtle changes in these tests over time may signal the presence of underlying disease. We recommend that dogs and cats have blood testing done every year during their wellness exam. Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for rapid serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasite testing. For specialized diagnostics and consultations, we utilize commercial veterinary laboratories.

Radiology

Our on-site radiology suite features modern digital x-ray equipment that provides high quality radiographs that aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We can take radiographs of the long bones, joints, spine, heart, lungs, abdomen and skull.

Our digital system offers several advantages that benefit our clients, patients, staff and the environment.

• Digital x-rays allow us to capture and view images almost instantaneously, eliminating the time it takes to process and develop the x-ray film used in traditional systems
• The images obtained with the digital system are extremely high resolution and can be modified after they are captured, reducing the need to re-take x-rays and increasing the quality and diagnostic value of the x-rays. This means less waiting time for you, less time on the x-ray table for your pet, less environmental waste and a faster diagnosis.
• Your pet’s digital x-rays can also be saved to a disk and easily transmitted to specialists for consultations.
